Summary: In the earliest of the several timeframes that make up this lovely romantic drama from director Richard Attenborough (GANDHI, CHAPLIN, SHADOWLANDS), the year is 1943 and a dying World War II gunner who just emerged from a fighter-pilot crash hands his ring off to a local with instructions to return it to his girlfriend. Fifty years after the fact, a young man comes across the ring and, making it his mission to uncover the entire intriguing history of this piece of jewelry, tracks down that girlfriend. Shirley MacLaine, Christopher Plummer, Mischa Barton, Neve Campbell, Pete Postelthwaite, and Brenda Fricker star in CLOSING THE RING, an epically scoped romance.
