Summary: When a man (Shashi Kapoor) hears a woman singing in his village, he instantly falls in love with her voice. The singer turns out to be the town outcast, a woman who hides her partially burned face behind a veil. This Bollywood romance was a box-office failure upon its release, but has since become an internationally respected example of the genre.
